			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Morris E. “Morrie” Speicher, </strong>85, of Leesburg, IN passed away on February 2, 2012 at the Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN. He was born on January 12, 1927 in Urbana, IN to Harold &amp; Mona (Devers) Speicher. He married Anne Mahaney who survives. He lived on Lake Tippecanoe since 1988 coming from Wabash. Morrie graduated from Urbana High School in 1945, then went on to Naperville College in Naperville, IL. He was a US Army veteran. He retired as the Secretary Treasurer for Cyclone Manufacturing after 50 years of service. He was a life member of the Wabash &amp; North Webster American Legions. He was a member of the Wabash Elks #471 where he formerly served as Trustee. He was a member of the Urbana Lions Club, past director of the Wabash Country Club. He was also a member of the Ft. Wayne Mizpah Shrine. He enjoyed golfing and spending time on the lake. Morrie is survived by his wife Anne Speicher of Leesburg. 2 daughters – Pam Speicher-Urshel of Wylie, TX &amp; Gayle Manby of Wabash. 1 son – Jeff (Jennifer) Speicher of Wylie, TX. 3 grandchildren – Jeff Urshel, Rachel Speicher &amp; Matthew Speicher. 1 brother – Daniel (Barbara) Speicher of Leesburg. He was preceded by 1 sister. There will be a graveside service at the Speicher Cemetery in Urbana on Monday, February 6, 2012 at 10:00 AM. There will be a time for friends to call at the Eastlund Funeral Home on Monday, February 6, 2012 from 1-2 pm. A memorial service honoring Morrie’s life will be at 2:00 PM at the Funeral Home. Memorial contributions in Morrie’s name may be made to the Animal Welfare League or you may plant a tree in his memory.</p>

Carwile, </strong>85, of Topeka, IN (formerly of Syracuse) passed away on February 1, 2012 at Avalon Village in Ligonier.  She was born on June 4, 1926 in Monmouth, IL to Gerald &amp; Marie (Myers) Carwile.  She resided in the Syracuse area since 1943 coming from River Grove, IL.  She retired from Syracuse Rubber in 1990.  She was a member of the Richville United Methodist Church.  She was at one time the director of the Mellowaires in Kosciusko County.  She was a member and past President of the Syracuse Town Council.  She is survived by 1 niece, 6 nephews.  Several great nieces &amp; nephews.  She was preceded by 1 sister &amp; 3 brothers.  Friends may call at the Eastlund Funeral Home on Saturday, February 4, 2012 from 10-11 am.  A graveside Service will immediately follow at the Syracuse Cemetery with Reverend Carol Knox presiding.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Syracuse EMS or the Richville United Methodist Church.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Catherine “Katie” Connell, </strong>94, of Syracuse, IN passed away on January 28, 2012 at Millers Merry Manor in Syracuse.  She was born on July 24, 1917 in Kosciusko County to James &amp; Elva (Miles) Connell.  She was a lifelong Syracuse resident.  She was a bookkeeper for Modern Educational Systems in Goshen for many years.  She was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Syracuse since 1948.  She is survived by her sister Jean Knisely of Syracuse.  She is also survived several nieces, nephews as well as many great &amp; great-great nieces &amp; nephews. She was preceded by 1 brother &amp; 1 sister.   Services for friends and family will be Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at 11:00 am at the Eastlund Funeral Home.  Calling will be 1 hour prior to the service. Pastor Mark Eastway will be officiating.    Burial will follow at the Syracuse Cemetery.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Helen Marie Roberts, </strong>89, of North Webster, IN passed away on January 23, 2012 at Millers Merry Manor in Syracuse.  She was born on January 19, 1923 in Warsaw, IN to George &amp; Christina (Kammerer) Lehman.  Helen was known for her work at the ASC office in Warsaw.  She had started that job right out of High School and worked there until retirement.  A fact that she was proud of.  She was a member of the North Webster Church of God.  She is survived by her son – Michael (Judie) Roberts of North Webster.  2 sisters – Lorene (Mart) Stookey of Leesburg, Edna Lehman of Warsaw.  2 brothers – Leroy Lehman of Milford &amp; Howard Lehman of Florida.  Several grandchildren, greatgrandchildren &amp; greatgreatgrandchildren. She was preceded by her husband Ralph Roberts, an infant son Larry &amp; her parents.  There will be a private graveside service at the North Webster Cemetery.  Last night we lost a beloved Mother, Sister, Grandmother and Aunt.  She was a special lady that was always there to help.  She fixed us many Christmas dinners.  She made the holidays special.  She also gave much goodness to her church and friends.  She will be deeply missed.</p>

Line Jr., 81, of North Webster, IN passed away on January 18, 2012 at Millers Merry Manor in Syracuse.  He was born on August 5, 1930 in Syracuse, IN to Joseph M. Line Sr. &amp; Carrie Stump.  On December 31, 1971 he married Sharon Metge who survives.  He was a lifelong area resident, as well as a US Army veteran.  In 1993 he retired from Johnson Service after 43 years as a machinist.  He was a member of the North Webster American Legion.  Joe is survived by his wife Sharon Line of North Webster.  1 son – Robert Line of Cromwell.  2 daughters – Mrs. Danny (Yyvonne) Paff of Goshen &amp; Mrs. Larry (Michelle) Lockhart of Syracuse.  5 grandchildren &amp; 13 greatgrandchildren.  He was preceded by 1 sister.  There will be calling on Saturday, January 21, 2012 from 2-4 pm at the Eastlund Funeral Home followed by a military walkthrough and honors at 4pm.  Memorial contributions may be made to the local cancer care fund c/o K21 foundation.  Following services, there will be a meal at the Syracuse VFW.  All are welcome.<br />

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>David Lee Shields, </strong>64, of Syracuse, IN passed away on January 13, 2012 at his residence.  He was born on October 21, 1947 in Marion, IN to Carl &amp; Helen (Clark) Shields.  He was a 1967 graduate of North Webster High School.  On October 18, 1969 he married Nancy Jo Koher who survives.  Dave served in the US Army from 1968-1971.  He worked in sales throughout his adult life, including Insurance sales, as well as Auto/RV sales.  He was a barber prior to his career in sales.  Dave was a member of the Wawasee Heights Baptist Church, where he was an active member of the Monday evening Men’s Bible Study and was responsible, along with his wife, for serving Sunday morning breakfast on special occasions.  He loved to share his faith with friends and family and was a mentor to many.  He enjoyed fishing and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and was an avid Chicago Bears fan.  He was loved for his quick wit, wonderful sense of humor and gift of hospitality.  He will always be remembered for his contagious laugh.  He is survived by his wife – Nancy Jo Shields of Syracuse.  His son – Jeff (Nicky) Shields and granddaughters – Morgan &amp; Emily of New Paris.  His brother – Dennis ((Sally) Shields of Marion and his sister Roberta (Ralph) Kauffman of Atlanta, IN.  His mother in law Jean Koher and brother in law J.R Koher of Syracuse.  He was preceded by his parents, 2 brothers and his father in law.  Calling will be Tuesday, January 17, 2012 from 4-8 pm at the Eastlund Funeral Home.  Services will be Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at the Wawasee Heights Baptist Church at 11:00 AM with Pastor Pat Park officiating.  There will be 1 hour of calling prior to the service at the church.  Burial will follow at the Syracuse Cemetery with full Military Honors.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Wawasee Heights Baptist Church.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Carole Sawyer-Spicher,</strong> 70, of Elkhart, IN passed away on January 11, 2012 at her residence.  She was born on May 15, 1941 in Syracuse, IN to Lester &amp; Clara (Burton) Sawyer.  On September 29, 1956 she married Kerry Spicher who survives.  Carole enjoyed gardening, crocheting, reading, and spending time with the grandchildren &amp; great-grandchildren.  She is survived by her husband Kerry Spicher of Elkhart.  3 sons – Doug (Pam) Spicher of Elkhart, Jeff Spicher of Elkhart, &amp; Mark Spicher of Elkhart.  2 daughters – Kim (Kent) Raymond of Elkhart &amp; Tina (George) Casey of Elkhart.  16 grandchildren &amp; 29 greatgrandchildren.  2 sisters – Mary Frazier &amp; Ruth Sindell.  She was preceded by 6 brothers &amp; 4 sisters an her daughter Carolyn.  Calling will be on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 from 12 noon until 2:00 PM at the Eastlund Funeral Home.  A funeral service will be at 2:00 PM at the funeral home with pastor Chris Gardner officiating.  Burial will follow at the Syracuse Cemetery.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Fred Elstrod Jr.  92, of Syracuse, In passed away on January 9, 2012 at Greencroft Health Care in Goshen.  He was born on March 9, 1919.  He moved to Syracuse in 1952 from Indianapolis.  He was involved with retail as well as wholesale auto sales.  He also helped his late wife Emily operate the Syracuse Gift Shop for many years.  Emily preceded him in 2003 after 61 years of marriage.  He is survived by his 2 sons – Kim Elstrod of Syracuse &amp; Fred Elstrod III of Nashville, IN.  A graveside service will be Friday, January 13, 2012 at the Greenlawn Cemetery  in Nashville,  IN at 1:00 PM.  Eastlund Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.</strong></p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Perry L. Morton</strong>, 63, of Warsaw died unexpectedly in his home at 6:45pm on January 6, 2012. He was born on February 12, 1948 in Marion to Sherrill and Delores Carlene (Miles) Morton. On September 1, 2005 he married Brenda (Snyder) Morton, who survives.</p>
<p>He graduated from Leesburg High School in 1966.  He also received a degree from Purdue University in business.</p>
<p>In 1966 he hired in at RR Donnelley on an apprentiship as a roll tender. In the 70’s he decided to enter into the insurance business and begun working with Farm Bureau in Fort Wayne.  He later opened his own agency Perry Morton &amp; Assoc. and has run it successfully since 1978.</p>
<p>Perry was an avid sports fan. NASCAR was a sport he loved!  Bench Rest rifle shooting was his passion.  He held several national titles in the sport and at age 32 he was the youngest member ever to be inducted into the National Bench Rest Assoc. Hall of Fame.  Hunting big game in Wyoming and Alaska was his favorite thing to do.  He was passionate in wild life preservation.  Parry was a member of American Legion Post 253, The Moose Lodge and Ducks Unlimited.</p>
<p>He has a zest for life and lived his life to the fullest. He worked hard and played harder. He was a kind and generous man and will always be remembered and loved by many.</p>
<p>Perry is survived by his wife Brenda Morton.  Two children; Sherri Morton and Kerry Morton.  Grandchildren, Elizabeth Brumblow, Marc Brumblow and Devan Morton.  He was preceded in death by his parents.</p>
<p>In lieu of a formal service the family will be having a celebration of Perry’s life at the American Legion Post 253 in North Webster on January 22, 2012 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm.</p>
<p>The family asks that in lieu of flowers you bring happy memories, stories to share, and photos to his celebration. Memorial donations in memory of Perry may be made to the donor’s choice<span id="_marker"> </span></p>
