Rudolph ‘Rudy’ John Cesco

Rudolph (Rudy) John Cesco, age 79, passed away March 3, 2010 at the Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Rudy was born August 24, 1930 in Columbus, Ohio.  He grew up in Fort Wayne and graduated from Fort Wayne Central in 1948.  After graduation he worked for Venetian Terrazzo in Los Angles. From 1951-1953 he served in the United States Army.  After discharge from the Army he attended Pasadena City College and USC.  Rudy returned to Indiana in 1965 and worked for Lebrato Brothers Construction in Fort Wayne. In 1968 through 1970 he attended Ball State University receiving his B.S. and M.S. degree in Industrial Education.  He taught Industrial Arts at Wawasee High School from 1972-1988.  While at WHS he was the boys golf coach from 1972-1988.  He was the girls golf coach from 1982-1986.  He served as President of the Indiana High School Golf Coaches Assoc. from 1981-1983 and started the ‘Club for Kids’ program in 1985.  As golf coach he began the Wawasee Golf Invitational in 1978 and was named the area boys golf coach of the year in 1985 & District 2 Coach of the Year in girls golf in 1986.  Rudy was inducted into the IHSGCA Hall of Fame in 1988.  After retiring from teaching and coaching in 1988 he became a golf instructor at the U.S. Golf Academy at Swan Lake in Plymouth, Indiana.  Rudy will always be remembered for his love of sports especially Notre Dame Football and I.U. Basketball. His spare time evolved around duck hunting with his yellow labs and fishing.

Rudy was preceded in death by his parents Terzo and Rosa Cesco and sisters, Josephine Colone, Anna Speicher and Mary Vail.  He is survived by his wife Martha, a son Randall (wife Krista) Cesco and two granddaughters, Maria Rose and Kira Grace Cesco

Visitation will Friday, March 5, 2010 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Eastlund Funeral Home.  There will be a 7:30 PM Rosary Friday evening as well.

The mass will be Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 10 AM at St. Martins DePorres Catholic Church in Syracuse.  Burial will be at Catholic Cemetery in Ft. Wayne at 2PM with military honors at 2PM on Saturday.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Wawasee Athletic Department Golf Team.
