Asko “Whitey” Ruuska

Asko “Whitey” Ruuska, 73, of Syracuse, IN passed away on September 20, 2012 at his residence.  He was born on October 31, 1938 in Haapajarvi, Finland to Vaino & Hilja (Jussila) Ruuska.  On February 24, 1962 he married Dorothy Elaine Johnson in Milwaukee, WI who survives.  He owned and operated SISU (An aviation repair service) Services from 1985 until retiring in 2007.  He was a US Army Vietnam veteran attaining the rank of E-5.  He was an avid Green Bay Packer fan.  He was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Middlebury.  He is survived by his wife – Dorothy “Dot” Ruuska of Syracuse.  1 daughter – Laura (Luke) Snow of Mesa, AZ.  1 son Eric (Elizabeth) Ruuska of Rensselaer, IN.  9 grandchildren.  1 brother – Eero Ruuska of Cook, MN.  He was preceded by an infant son, 1 brother and his parents.  A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 29, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Middlebury, IN with Pastor Randy Schroder officiating.  There will be 1 hour of calling prior to the service.  Memorial contributions may be made to IU Goshen Center for Cancer Care or the Church.
