Bai Vu
Bai Vu, 76, of Syracuse, passed away on March 20, 2026, at his home.
He was born on June 16, 1949, in Lang Lam Ha, Kien An, Vietnam, to Dac Huu Vu and Nhat Thi Dang.
Bai proudly served as a Sergeant in the Vietnamese Marine Corps, fighting alongside South Vietnamese and United States forces.
In December 1977, he married Tuyen Le, who survives.
Bai worked as a welder at Tenneco Automotive in Ligonier, where he dedicated 25 years of service before retiring.
Bai had a deep love for fishing, especially ice fishing for crappies and steelhead fishing in the rivers. He took great pride in his Ranger bass boat, often spending time keeping it in pristine condition. Known by many for his passion for fishing, it was a hobby he proudly passed down to his son, Kim, and grandsons, Dakota and Hudson.
Among those who spent time with him on the ice, he earned the nickname “Ice Ninja” for his uncanny ability to quietly and consistently catch more crappies than anyone around him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Tuyen Vu of Syracuse; two sons, Kim (Rebecca) Nguyen of Syracuse and David Vu of North Webster; four grandchildren, Tai, Dakota, Mylah, and Hudson; and one brother, Son Vu of Vietnam.
He was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Cassandra Vu.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Eastlund Funeral Home. Visitation will take place two hours prior to the service, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
Burial will follow at Solomon Creek Cemetery.
