Carolyn Kleopfer
Syracuse, IN – Carolyn Ann (McGibbon) Kleopfer, 93, passed away after a brief illness on June 21st.
Carolyn was born in Swayzee IN on November 28, 1931, to Faye and Loran McGibbon. Her early years were spent growing up on the family farm in Swayzee with her sister, Phyllis Matchett, who preceded her in death. She also had a brother, Robert, who died at six months of age.
Carolyn graduated from Ball State University with a degree in nursing. She met her husband, Dr. Ronald G Kleopfer while working in Indianapolis and were married in 1956. They celebrated 50 years of marriage before he passed away in 2009.
Ron and Carolyn lived in Ft Wayne, IN during their working years and were active in the Ft Wayne community. Retirement years were spent traveling the world, visiting 50+ countries with a special interest in the Asia Pacific region. When not traveling, they spent their summers on Lake Wawasee, winters in Marco Island, FL and spring and fall at their cabin in Wyoming where they enjoyed the abundant wildlife in Sunlight Basin.
She is survived by her sons, Eric (Lisa) Kleopfer, Prior Lake, MN, and Stuart (Angie) Kleopfer, Syracuse, IN. She was preceded in death by daughter Kimberly Pierce (2023) and grandson Austin Pierce in 2020. The grandchildren who will mourn her loss are Brandon (Kimberly Pierce), Dylan, Maren, Keely, and Colin (Eric and Lisa) and Elizabeth (Stuart and Angie).
Carolyn lived her life with a strong faith and was very active at North Christian Church in Fort Wayne and later attended North Webster Community Church in North Webster, IN. She leaves a legacy of love, grace, and a life well-lived. She will be forever in our hearts.
A private burial will be held at a later date in McClintic Cemetery, Syracuse, IN.
