Christina Schenkel-Weed

May 12th

Today we are celebrating the life of Christina Theresa Schenkel Weed. She was born
November 7
, 1955 in New York City. Tina lived a gratifying life until her passing on
May 4
, 2021, at the age of 65. Daughter to Fran and Chris Schenkel, Tina was raised
in New York City until she was sixteen. The family then moved to Lake Tippecanoe in
Leesburg, Indiana.
A graduate of Wawasee High School in 1973, Tina went on to receive a bachelor’s
degree in Fashion Merchandising from Purdue University. After graduating from
Purdue, she became a flight attendant for United Airlines. Always having an eye for
design, Tina started a jewelry design business, Angel Baby Love, featuring designs of
angels. Tina’s interests didn’t stop there. She was also a licensed realtor in the state of
Florida for the past 25 years. When it came to her career, Tina cherished the last
twelve years managing and running the Warsaw Pier 1 store. Tina enjoyed
collaborating with her teammates and loved interacting and helping all of the wonderful
clients that came into her store.
The greatest gift in her life was the birth of her son, Michael Weed. Their bond was the
most important part of Tina’s life. They made a great team, taking on life together. It’s a
larger-than-life loss for Michael. Please keep him in your prayers. Tina is a Sister to
Ted and John, Sister-in-Law to Kris and Lisa, Aunt to Christopher, Katie and Aubree,
and Great Aunt to Ana and Leo.
Tina had many beautiful qualities. She was compassionate, full of grace, and always
kind to everyone. Tina was full of love, always telling everyone she loved them. You
could talk to Tina about anything, and she would listen with an open mind, always in the
moment. Not to mention, she was just plain cool and fun to be around. After the
passing of her parents, Tina often took on the role of mother to our family. She was a
warrior and fighter, overcoming obstacles throughout her short lifetime.
An important part of Tina’s life was her spirituality. Raised Catholic, she learned the
importance of faith. Throughout her life, Tina was open to all faiths and felt that the
common thread came down to love and kindness. She loved angels and felt she had a
connection with them her whole life. Tina is now our guardian angel.
Her life will be honored and remembered at Saint Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church in
North Manchester, Indiana on Saturday, May 15
. Visitation will be at 10:00am,
followed by a 11:00am Funeral Mass, celebrating her life. Masks will be required. Her
burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, friends and family can make a donation to the
American Cancer Society.
Every beautiful sunset and rainbow will remind us how blessed we were to have Tina in
our lives. Think of her today. It will bring a smile to your face and love to your heart.
