Emalou Massa
Emalou Massa walked into heaven in August 22, 2026, @ the age of 93.
Born in Chico, Texas, she grew up on a small farm, the youngest of five children. She & her two sisters were often invited to sing together for the glory of the Lord.
She graduated from school early & went on to Baptist Bible College in Pennsylvania, where she met Frank Massa. She married him & he became a Christian Missionary Alliance pastor. They ministered in New England where they had four children: Eldonna, Joseph, Brenda, & Heidi.
Emalou loved the Lord & wanted to glorify Him with her life. She served as church pianist for several years, then taught piano & voice lessons out of her home. She taught English as a Second Language (ESL) for a time as well, worked at a bank in Indiana & at the International Friendship House (now Westminster Hall) in Winona Lake, Indiana, where she played cello in the local community orchestra. She also managed large apartment buildings in three states.
Over the years she built a life centered on faith & family. She found joy in her children, grandchildren Caleb & Cody Paul, Nicole & Lydia Massa, & great-granddaughter Huxley Paul. She spent hours praying for each one.
Emalou filled her days with music, work, knitting, crocheting, & journaling. In her later years she read scores of books (she was a speed-reader), especially enjoying those set in Amish communities. She loved working jigsaw puzzles & crossword puzzles as well. She was known for her out-going personality & sense of humor.
She leaves behind daughter Eldonna Filardi & son Joseph Massa, but was preceded in death by Brenda Massa & Heidi Paul. She will also be remembered by many nieces and nephews.
There will be a graveside service at Fairview Cemetery in Mishawaka on Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at 2 PM. Eastlund Funeral Home is handling her arrangements.
