Goldie B. Pilcher

Goldie B. Pilcher, 102 years old, a Syracuse resident since 1947, passed away on January 16, 2015, at Tender Care Center in Goshen.  She was born on June 20, 1912 to John and Rose Parkhurst in Brewster, Nebraska.  Goldie married Douglas G. Pilcher in Denver, CO on July 20, 1941.  Goldie taught at various elementary schools for 23 years and received a Masters Degree in Education from St. Francis College, Fort Wayne, IN.  After teaching, she worked alongside her husband in the family business in Syracuse, Pilcher’s Shoe Store until Douglas’ death in 1980.  Then she continued working with her son at Pilcher’s Shoes in North Webster until her retirement at the age of 95.  Goldie was active within her church and had many hobbies including gardening, bowling, and bingo.  Surviving are 3 daughters, Janice (Thomas) Perzanowski of Merritt Island, FL; Linda (James) Wortinger of Sebring, FL; Patti (Stanley) Klotz of Bremen, IN; a son, Robert (Dianne) Pilcher of Leesburg, IN; 13 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mildred Ratliff 100 years old and Helen Hennig 94 years old.  She was preceded in death by her husband, 2 sisters, and 3 brothers (2 in infancy).  Visitation will be Tuesday, January 20, 2015 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Eastlund Funeral Home.  Services will be Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at 11 am at the funeral home with Pastor Randy Stewart officiating.  Burial will follow at the Syracuse cemetery.  In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that Bible donations be made in Memory of Goldie Pilcher to Gideon International.  Online condolences to: eastlundfuneralhome.com
