Joseph M. Barrett

Joseph M. Barrett, 88, of Timbercrest Home, North Manchester, formerly of Warsaw passed away on December 14, 2015 at the Kosciusko Community Hospital.  He was born on May 9, 1927 in Harrodsburg, IN to Hollice & Jeanette (Goen) Barrett.  On June 20, 1948, he married Betty Morehead, who preceded him in 2008.  In 2009, he married Elsie Hoffman, who survives.  He retired as a sales manager for Farm Bureau Co-op serving Northern Indiana.  He was a 1945 graduate of Boswell High School.   He was a WWII US Army era veteran, receiving victory and occupation medals.  He was a longtime member of the North Webster Church of the Brethren.  He is survived by his wife – Elsie Barrett of North Manchester. 2 daughters – Holly (John) Urschalitz of Warsaw, Amy (Joe) Coffey of Goleta, CA  4 sons – Allen (Margaret) Barrett of Leiters Ford, and Kerry (Denise) Barrett of North Webster,  Rob (Bianca) Hoffman of Custer, WI , Chris (Kathy) Hoffman, of Prescott, WI    24 grandchildren,  19  great-grandchildren, 3 great-greatgrandchildren, 1 sister – Stella Gillen of Lafayette,  1 brother – Tom Barrett of Lafayette.  He was preceded by his 1st wife, Betty Barrett, 6 sisters – Catherine Jackson, Mary Waukechon, Hazel Ogden, Dorothy Newtson, Elsie McMahon, and Louise Baumgardt, and 3 brothers – Jack, Frank and Bill Barrett, 1 grandchild and 1 great-greatgrandchild.   Visitation will be Wednesday, December 16, 2015  from 2-4 & 6-8 at the Eastlund Funeral Home.  Services will be Thursday, December 17 at 11 AM at the North Webster Church of the Brethren with pastor Bob Wyman officiating.  Burial will follow at the North Webster Cemetery – Mock Addition.  Memorial contributions may be made to the North Webster Church of the Brethren or Gideons International.
