Karen Cox
Karen Cox, 67, of Syracuse, Indiana, passed away peacefully at her home on September 19, 2025, surrounded by her loving family and friends.
She was born on January 12, 1958, in Marion, Indiana, to Gearold and Marilyn Moore. Karen was a proud graduate of Wawasee High School, Class of 1976.
On October 7, 1978, she married Brad Cox, who survives. Together they shared 46 wonderful years of marriage. Also surviving are her children: Travis Cox and his wife Amanda of Indianapolis, Eric Cox and his wife Kerri of Indianapolis, John Cox and his wife Sierra of Fort Wayne, and Abby Hare and her husband Dave of Lafayette. She was a devoted grandmother to her seven grandchildren: Elliot, Isabel, Lizzy, Kate, Zeke, Zoey, and Violet. She is also survived by her parents, Gearold and Marilyn Moore; her sisters, Lynn Weaver and Jane Wilson; and her brothers, David and Michael Moore.
Karen was a faithful member of Wawasee Lakeside Chapel, where she found joy and purpose in serving others, especially through her leadership in the children’s ministry.
In addition to her devotion to family and church, Karen co-owned Wawasee Water Conditioning in the 1980s and 1990s and later worked as a server at the Boat House Restaurant until her retirement. She will be remembered for her warm smile, her gift for hospitality, and the countless lives she touched through her kindness and generosity.
Karen enjoyed tending to her flowers, cooking and sewing, relaxing at the lake, and, most of all, spending time with her grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
Her legacy of love, faith, and family will live on through all who knew her. Services will be held on Sunday, September 28, 2025 at 4 PM at the Wawasee Lakeside Chapel. Calling will be from 1-4. Memorial contributions may be made to Wawasee Lakeside Chapel in Karen’s name. Eastlund Funeral Home is handling her arrangements.
