Laurence C. “Larry” Griffith
Laurence C. “Larry” Griffith, 94, of Syracuse, IN passed away peacefully on June 20, 2013 at his residence. He was born on October 5, 1918 in Fort Wayne, IN to Lauren & Theresa (O’Neil) Griffith. On October 25, 1947 he married Rosemary C. Schirmeyer who preceded him in 2011. He was a lake Wawasee resident since 1946 coming from Fort Wayne. He owned and operated Griffith’s Wawasee Marina until his retirement. He was a member of the St. Martins de Porres Catholic Church, as well as the Knights of Columbus in Syracuse. He was a US Army WWII veteran and was a member of the Syracuse American Legion & VFW. Larry enjoyed playing golf & boating on the lake. He is survived by his 2 daughters – Lisa (Dan) Mikolajczak of Syracuse, Andrea (Mark) Stinson of Anderson. 2 sons – Terry (Karen) Griffith of Syracuse & Dan (Richele) Griffith of Syracuse. 3 grandchildren & 7 stepgrandchildren, and 11 greatgrandchildren. 1 sister – Virginia Hannum. 2 brothers – Donald (Kate) Griffith & James Griffith. 1 sister in law – Doris Griffith. He was preceded by 1 sister & 2 brothers. Visitation will be Sunday, June 23, 2013 from 2-6 PM at the Eastlund Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Syracuse. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the mass at the church from 10-11 AM. Private family interment will follow at the McClintic Cemetery with full Military Honors.
