Myra Lackey

Myra Lyn Lackey, 78, of Warsaw, IN passed away March 11, 2011 at Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne. She was born June 27, 1932 in Winona Lake, IN to Samuel Dewey & Stella (Wiseman) Mow. On December 25, 1958 she married Raymond Lackey who preceded her in 1996. She was a member of the North Webster Church of the Brethren where she served as organist for many years. She was a graduate of Central High School in North Manchester and Manchester College. After teaching school for a few years, she enrolled in Art School in Cleveland, Ohio where she met her future husband Raymond. She and Raymond lived for many years at her grandparents farm near Barbee Lake. She taught music as well as other subjects in Indiana, Illinois, and Tennessee, finishing her career at Fairfield High School. She was generous and compassionate toward others and considered her students to be her children as she had none of her own. She is survived by her Sister – Mary Reahard of North Manchester. She is also survived by five sisters in Law, and many nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother Thomas Allen Mow. Calling for Myra will be Sunday, March 13, 2011 from noon until 2 PM at the North Webster Church of the Brethren. The service will be at 2 PM at the church with Reverend Bob Wyman officiating. Burial will follow at the Washington Union Cemetery north of Pierceton.
