Paul Wixson

Paul L. Wixson, also known as Turk 92, De Leon Springs, FL, danced out of this world on Monday, Jan. 16, at his residence. He was born in Wellsboro, Indiana on March. 20, 1930, the youngest child of the late Floyd and Alma Wixson. On June 28, 1950 he married the former Virginia Brill, who preceded him in death on July 1998 ater 48 years of marriage.
Paul went to school in Benton Indiana and was known for his practical or not so practical jokes. He was known to put a snake and possible a mouse in the teachers desk draw and got caught smoking with the janitor in the basement of the Benton School. Mrs. Brill, his teacher at that time waited patiently for him to advance to the next classroom. At that time she would have never guessed that he was going to become her son-in-law.
Paul served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He played baseball for the army and was on the ski patrol stationed in Iceland. Paul was a Life Member and Past Commander of Syracuse VFW #1342, and a member of the Millersburg Legion Post 484 where he served as past commander and was a member of the Honor Guard/Color Guard. He served as a volunteer on the Millersburg Fire Department for many years. Paul retired as Plant Supervisor from Commondore Homes in Syracuse Indiana. He loved music, dancing, spending time with his friends and family, and was often the life of the party.
He will be dearly missed by his companion and dancing partner Betty Poppy better known as he would call her the Boss, three daughters, Luann (Fredrick) Yoder Winfield, Pennsylvania, Paula Bramblett, Plant City, Florida, Connie Morgan, Syracuse Indiana and one bonus daughter Angie (Robert) Bowman Deltona, FL 14 grandchildren; 10 Bonus Grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 8 Great Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, Fredrick D Yoder II; brothers, Gail, Kenneth , Keith and George Wixson; sisters, Faye Wixson, Omah Barnett and Olga Willis. Visitation will be held on July 6, 2023 from 10 – 11 AM at the Eastlund Funeral Home in Syracuse Indiana. Burial will follow at the Syracuse Cemetery with full military honors.
