Richard V. ‘Dick’ Trammel

Richard V. “Dick” Trammel, 78, of Syracuse passed away April 25, 2010 at Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne, IN.  He was born September 19, 1931 in Cleveland, OH to Vernon & Marjorie (Dailey) Trammel.  On July 3, 1954 he married Marcinda Dannells who survives.  Dick was raised in the Fort Wayne area, attending Central High School.  He and Marcinda moved to Syracuse in 1958.  Dick was a Korean War veteran, receiving the Purple Heart for wounds sustained in battle at the Naktong Perimeter.  He retired from Wawasee Community Schools as a custodian after 13 years of service.  Prior to that Dick worked 10 years at Overhead Door, and also as a mechanic for Cutter McCormick Motors in Syracuse.  He was a member of Shepherd by the Lakes Lutheran Church, Syracuse, Turkey Creek Senior Citizens Club, Syracuse American Legion # 223, and the Syracuse VFW.  Dick is survived by his wife Marcinda of Syracuse.  Five Children – Jack R. (Michelle) Trammel of Syracuse, Marjorie “Marge” Emerick of St. Augustine, FL, Kim Marie (Brian) Tucker of Syracuse, Thomas (Stacey) Trammel and Lorna (David) Coy of Albion.  Twelve Grandchildren, Eight Greatgrandchildren.  Two Sisters – Sally Lou Davis and Sandy (Thomas) Boyes both of Ravenna , OH.  He was preceded by his parents, one brother Thomas Russell Trammel, his beloved stepmother – Grace Trammel. Three grandsons also preceded him – Thad Van Sickle, Neil Trammel and Richard Trammel.

Services for Richard V.  “Dick” Trammel will be Thursday, April 29, 2010 at 11AM at the Shepherd by the Lakes Lutheran Church, Syracuse with Reverend Jerry Winegarden officiating.

Calling will be Wednesday, April 28, 2010  from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Eastlund Funeral Home Syracuse.

Burial will be at Syracuse Cemetery, Syracuse, Indiana

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shepherd by the Lakes Lutheran Church.
