Richard Vanderveer
Richard Vanderveer, 85, of Syracuse, IN passed away on July 1, 2013 at the IU Health Goshen Hospital. He was born on May 30, 1928 in Goshen, IN to Donald & Hazel (Searfoss) Vanderveer. He was a lifelong area resident having grown up in the Milford area. He was a US Army veteran and a Purdue University graduate. On October 7, 1951 he married Mavis Vance who survives. He started his career after the service with Bell Aircraft Corporation in New York, and retired from NIPSCO in 1985. He is survived by his wife – Mavis Vanderveer of Syracuse. 3 nieces – Ann (Carlos) Bennett of Germantown, OH, Janet (Larry) Lant of Syracuse & Amy (Scott) Williams of Jackson, WY. Several nieces & nephews also survive. He was preceded by his parents & 2 sisters – Elizabeth Shaw & Margaret Purdum. There will be a memorial service Honoring Rick’s life on July 5, 2013 at 11 AM at the Eastlund Funeral Home with Pastor Christopher Lantz officiating. Friends may call from 9-11 AM at the funeral home. Burial at the Milford Cemetery will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions to: New Hope Pet Rescue or the Donors choice.
