Samuel E. Bowman

Samuel E. Bowman, 67, of Pierceton, IN passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2013 at his residence. He was born July 1, 1946 in Marion, IN to Enoch & Fern (Addison) Davis. At 10 months of age, he was adopted by Gail R. & Betty (Weicht) Bowman. Living in the Pierceton/North Webster area most of his life. He graduated from North Webster High School and was married on October 27, 1973 to Diane Powell, who survives. He worked as a machinist for Weatherhead Corp. and later Dana Corp. in Columbia City and Syracuse, and RR Donnelly in Warsaw. He served in the US Army in Vietnam and was a member of the North Webster American Legion Post 253. Affectionately known as “Gizzard Sam”, he liked to fish, garage sale, wheel & deal, and helping people. He loved his family, and granddaughter and his son’s dog “Pepper”. Other survivors include: Daughter, Kelly (Tony) McMillen of Fort Wayne, son, Eric of Pierceton, granddaughter, Megan McMillen, half-sister, Betty Jesse of Summitville, IN, mother-in-law Claudean Powell of Leesburg, uncle, Jimmy Bowman of Bluffton, several nieces & nephews. Services will be held Saturday, August 17, 2013 at 11:00 AM atĀ EastlundĀ Funeral Home, Syracuse, with Pastor Mike Beezley officiating. Military Rite will follow. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to North Webster American Legion, or the Cancer Care Fund of Kosciusko County.
