Shirley Walgamuth

Shirley Walgamuth, 72, of Leesburg, IN passed away on July 23, 2014 in her home. She was born on July 11, 1942 in Chesterton, IN to Ray & Mary (Yeiter) Abell. She married Glenn Tracy Martinsen who preceded her in 1979. She then married Arden Walgamuth in 1989 who also preceded her in 2009. She was a lifelong area resident. She retired from the purchasing department at DePuy. She had attended the North Webster Church of God as well as the Aboite Lutheran Church. Shirley is survived by her daughter – Tracy (Craig) Williams of Ft. Wayne, IN Her 2 step daughters – Kristin (David) Prior of Shelburne, VT & Dr. Mary (Gary) Baker of North Webster. 3 grandchildren and 1 sister – Jackie (Gary) Harvey of Apache Junction, AZ. Sister in law – Sue Abell of Centersville, VA. She was preceded by her 2 brothers – William & Terry Abell.
Shirley was an incredible mother and grandmother who shared her love of gardening, travel, camping and entertaining with family and friends. She had a knack of making every meal a special event with her homemade ice cream for dessert. She excelled at anything related to crafts, including sewing and woodworking. She regularly donated felted wool hats that she made with loving care to local cancer centers. She enjoyed fishing as much as she could, learning how as a young girl with her father. She was active with the local Gideons International Auxiliary. Most important to her was spending time with her grandchildren. She loved her family so much and it was a gift to have her as such an important part of our daily lives.
Visitation will be Sunday, July 27, 2014 from 2-5 pm at the Eastlund Funeral Home. Services will be held Monday, July 28, 2014 at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Stoney Point cemetery in Clunette.
