Theodore Grindle

Theodore “Ted” Scott Grindle, formerly of North Webster, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2020. He was born to Vern and Mabel (Kuhn) Grindle on April 18, 1935. He married the love of his life, Marilyn Wright, on June 3, 1956.

They had five girls: Debra (Mitch) Day, Gay Grindle (deceased), Kim Hershberger (deceased), Jan (Ted) McMurtrey, and Jill Grindle. Grandchildren: Amie Koontz, Melissa Koontz-Garboden, Krista Oldenburg, Megan Plummer, Andrew Hershberger, Sara Warnke, Sasha Byrd-Long, Amanda Bogue, Diana Buxton, Eric Allen, Adam Loftis, and Taylor Loftis.

Ted’s passions in life were teaching and preaching at nursing homes and his home churches. He volunteered at hospice in the Warsaw area. He designed and built a log cabin for his and Marilyn’s retirement home, starting with his favorite tool – his backhoe tractor. He retired from R.R. Donnelley. He was also an artist and had worked in advertising prior to his time there.

Other survivors include brothers Arnold (Marilyn) Grindle and Bruce (Judy) Grindle; great grandchildren Xavier Koontz-Miller, Anica Koontz-Miller, Fynn Koontz-Hughes, Mara Koontz-Hughes, Heath Koontz-Garboden, Blaine Koontz-Garboden, Eden Oldenburg, Eli Oldenburg, Reagan Oldenburg, Elizabeth Bogue, Oliver Buxton, Charlotte Buxton, William Buxton, Rebecca Warnke, Josiah Long, Ki’Myiah Long, Maryiah Long, Sa’Mond Byrd, Soleiya Loftis Klopfenstein; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Ted was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn; parents; brother Richard Grindle; and sister Deanna Lambert.

The family will hold a private memorial service.
