Wilma May Mitchell

Wilma May Mitchell, 81, of North Webster, IN passed away on April 24, 2012 at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne following a brief illness. She was born on October 6, 1930 in Noble County, IN to William & Mabel ((Simpson) Wilfong. On May 15, 1954 in South Whitley she married Dick Mitchell who preceded her in 2012. She moved to North Webster from South Whitley in 1957 and has resided there since then. She retired from the Deli/Bakery at Augsburgers in North Webster in 1996 after 25 years. She volunteered at the North Webster Food Pantry since 1998. She was a member of the North Webster United Methodist Church. Past officer of Lady Lions, Charter Member of the Ladies Firemans Auxiliary, Lamba Chi Omega Sorority, Snowmobile Club, Past Chief’s Club (Pythian Sisters). She loved to bowl and was active in leagues for 50 years. She is survived by her son – Bruce Mitchell of North Webster. 1 daughter – Sarah (Brian) Knisley of Syracuse. 2 grandchildren – Jessica Whitfield of Larwill & Joshua (Trish) Mitchell of Ft. wayne. 2 stepgrandchildren – Matt Knisley of Sturgis, MI & Cayla Knisley of Muncie, IN. 3 greatgrandchildren – Tristan Whitfield of Larwill, Jenna & Haydenn Mitchell of Ft. Wayne. 1 sister – Jewell Crume of South Whitley.She was preceded by her son Richard in 1955, and her daughter Laurel in 1975. She was also preceded by 4 sisters Annabell(Ed) Snyder, Mary (Burrell) Mathias, Helen Love & Suzella Hinton, & 4 brothers – Carl Wilfong, Eldon Manlove, Charles (Vivian) Wilfong, & Bill (Bonnie) Wilfong. Calling will be Thursday, April 26, 2012 from 2-5 & 6-8 PM at the Eastlund Funeral Home. Services will be Friday, April 27, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Eastlund Funeral Home with Pastor David Smitley of the North Webster United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at the North Webster Cemetery/Mock Addition. Memorial contributions may be made to the North Webster Food Pantry.
